EXAMS: Multiple choice, true or false, fill in type questions with the inclusion of some matching questions. Final exam is comprehensive(70% new material., 30% old)
Except for the final exam(3 in 24 hrs) all others will be as scheduled

INFO: Extra credit will be signed up for in advance. All assignments are due on their due date for both lab and lecture - 10% reduction in grade for every day it is late. Extra field weekend 10% added to lab grade. Sign-up deadline Oct. 15 (no exceptions).

GRADE: 70% Lec. (40% from the 2 in-term exams -- 30% from comprehensive final)
30% Lab. (75% lab practicals -- 25% notes). + - grades will be assigned only on final grades.

GENERAL BEHAVIOR:

1. Talking to classmates during lecture disrupts the normal learning environment. Should you engage in this behavior I will ask you to leave the room.
2. Reading of materials other then for this class will not occur during class (Newspapers, Mags. etc)
3. Hats and sunglasses will not be worn in the classroom (particularly during exams)
4. Food and beverages will not be consumed in the classroom.

HONOR CODE: Will be strictly observed and violators will be turned over to the honor court.

    1. Copying other students written work (current or former student), using koofers, or copying on exams, field notes, journal or data analysis reports will be considered a violation of the VPI & SU honor code.
    2. Possession of an exam from this course will be an honor code violation.
    3. I use the cheat analysis software (and classroom monitors ) which the university provides on each exam it permits an analysis to find those who may have cheated. These offenses will be turned over to the honor court.

     

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

1. If you arrive late to class sit down quietly near the entrance where you entered the room. If the classroom has multiple entrances: enter at the rear.
2. If you have to leave early sit near and exit so your departure does not disturb the class.
3. Be patient and courteous to other students when they are asking a question, even when the answer may be obvious to you.
4. Inform me when you might have to leave early or arrive late for a class (e-mail or verbal is fine).
