1) Sylvilagus floridanus - Eastern cottontail
Skin: rust colored cape, some have white on forehead, short, bushy white tail, whitish feet.

2) Sylvilagus palustris - Marsh rabbit
Skin: dark brown above, white below, feet brown, tail small and brownish underneath, small thin feet

3) Syvilagus transitionalis - New England cottontail
Skin: black patch between earns, never white on forehead, short ears with black stripe on outer edge.

4) Lepus arcticus - Arctic hare
Skin: white in winter - hairs white to base, black car tips, tail and feet always white, Summer - grayish-brown

5) Lepus americanus - Snowshoe hare
Skin: Winter - white with hairs yellowish at base.
Tail brownish above, feet brown.
Lepus Skull characteristics:  large "butterfly" shaped orbital process
