Seminar meeting
1 evening weekly - TBA

Course Description:
Instructor:  Dr. H. Maurice Valett,  Dept. of Biol., Va Tech,  Blacksburg, VA 24061

This course deals with the populations, communities and processes of running water (lotic) ecosystems. In essence, the aim of the course is to address how ecological principles apply to streams and how streams can be used to further general ecological understanding.  We will follow the traditional categorical divisions of ecology as they apply to streams (populations, communities, ecosystems and landscapes), but may rely more heavily on ecosystem oriented science given the instructor's orientation.  The course is designed for undergraduates with Jr/Sr standing or for graduate students in related areas of research.
