Want to be a Biological Sciences Major?
Biological Sciences only accepts internal transfers during the 3rd full week of February and the 3rd full week of September of each year.
For the 2009 - 2010 academic year, these weeks will be:
- September 21 - 25, 2009
- February 15 - 19, 2010
Students who wish to change their major to Biological Sciences need to complete a four-year-plan for their new major. The plan may be accessed at: http://www.biol.vt.edu/undergraduate/forms.html.
Once you have developed a four-year-plan of study geared toward your personal career goals, you need to contact the Undergraduate Advising Office (2089 Derring Hall) or call 540-231-6407 to set up an appointment to meet with an advisor to go over your plan and fill out a Change of Major Form.
The Biological Sciences Department has no restrictions on internal transfers, but students should be aware that to transfer into Biological Sciences an overall 2.0 grade point average is needed and a 2.0 in BIOL courses with a "C" or better grade in Freshman Biology. Students must also have a 2.2 GPA within the major after attempting 45 hours. For requirements and course information, please click here.
